Calibration Instructions for the Tilt Limit Module
NOTE: The tilt limit module requires two calibration set points. One calibration set point is completed with the key switch in the
"ON" position. The other calibration set point is completed with the key switch in the "OFF" position. The tilt limit module will only
memorize the calibration set point during the tilt up activation.
NOTE: The minimum tilt limit is approximately 25° up from the engine vertical position.
IMPORTANT: The calibration instructions must be followed exactly for the tilt limit module interface to function correctly and
accurately.
IMPORTANT: Ensure there are several inches between the engine cowl and the motor well in the full tilt position. The tilt limit
module tolerance is ± 5° from the calibrated set points.
NOTE: The key "ON" position calibration must have an analog trim gauge installed for the calibration to function. Some analog
trim gauges may not be compatible with the trim limit module. The key "OFF" position calibration is not affected if a trim gauge is
not installed. If a trim gauge is not installed, follow the instructions for the key "OFF" calibration.
NOTE: A key "ON" calibration is required if the analog trim gauge is replaced. The key "ON" and key "OFF" calibration is required
if the trim position sender is replaced.
1. Use the cowl tilt switch to tilt the engine to the full down position.
2. Turn the ignition key switch to the "ON" position.
3. Remove the plug from the tilt limit module orange calibration connector. Install the orange calibration wire to the tilt limit module
orange calibration connector.
4. Ground the orange calibration wire onto a ground location on the engine.
a - Orange calibration wire on a ground
b - Orange calibration wire bullet connector
5. Trim the engine up to the desired location.
NOTE: If the engine position is past the desired location, tilt the engine down past the desired location and then tilt the engine
back up. The tilt limit can only be set while the engine is being tilted up for more than a 1/2 second.
6. Remove the orange calibration wire from the engine ground.
7. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position. The tilt limit is now a memorized set point for the ignition key in the "ON" position.
8. Use the cowl tilt switch to tilt the engine below the memorized set point.
9. Ground the orange calibration wire onto a ground location on the engine.
10. Use the cowl tilt switch to tilt the engine to the desired location.
NOTE: If the engine position is past the desired location, tilt the engine down past the desired location and then tilt the engine
back up. The tilt limit can only be set while the engine is being tilted up for more than a 1/2 second.
11. Remove the orange calibration wire from the engine ground.
12. The tilt limit is now a memorized set point for the ignition key in the "OFF" position.
13. Remove the orange calibration wire from the tilt limit module interface orange calibration connector. Install the plug into the
tilt limit module orange calibration connector.
14. Secure the tilt limit module orange calibration connector to the engine wire harness with a cable tie.
